FUTA Aggregate Calculator 2026 — Calculate Your Post-UTME Aggregate Score

Published

on

Are you wondering if you’ll meet the departmental cut-off mark at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) for the 2026/2027 academic session? Use this free FUTA aggregate calculator to know your chances before admission lists are released.

It calculates your aggregate score based on your JAMB/UTME score (75%) and your O’Level grades (25%) — exactly how FUTA’s admission office does it.

To be eligible for FUTA’s Post-UTME screening, you generally need a UTME score of 180 and above with FUTA as your first choice. Note that meeting this cut-off only qualifies you for screening — it does not guarantee admission. Your final aggregate (UTME + O’Level) is what determines whether you secure a spot in your chosen department.

(Always confirm the current cut-off mark on FUTA’s official admissions portal before applying, as benchmarks can be reviewed each session.)

How FUTA Calculates Your Aggregate Score

FUTA’s aggregate formula has two parts:

1. UTME Score (75%) Divide your JAMB score by 400, then multiply by 75.

2. O’Level Score (25%) Pick your 5 core subjects relevant to your course and convert each grade to points:

GradePoints
A180
B272
B367
C462
C557
C652

Add up the points for your 5 subjects, divide by 5, then multiply by 25.

3. Add both scores together to get your final aggregate.

Worked Example

A candidate scores 220 in JAMB with these O’Level grades:

  • Mathematics — C4 (62)
  • English — A1 (80)
  • Physics — B2 (72)
  • Chemistry — B3 (67)
  • Biology — C5 (57)

UTME score: (220 ÷ 400) × 75 = 41.25 O’Level total: 62 + 80 + 72 + 67 + 57 = 338 → 338 ÷ 5 = 67.6 → (67.6 ÷ 100) × 25 = 16.9

Aggregate = 41.25 + 16.9 = 58.15%

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) — FUTA Aggregate & Cut-Off Marks

How is FUTA’s aggregate score calculated?

FUTA uses a 75:25 split — your UTME score is divided by 400 and multiplied by 75, while your O’Level grades (5 core subjects) are converted to points, averaged, and multiplied by 25. The two results are added together.

What is the UTME cut-off mark for FUTA?

The general Post-UTME screening cut-off mark for FUTA is typically 180. You should verify the current session’s cut-off on FUTA’s official website, as this can change.

Do departmental cut-off marks change every year?

Yes. Departmental cut-offs vary depending on the number of applicants and how competitive a course is each session. Highly competitive courses like Computer Science, Architecture, and Electrical/Electronics Engineering tend to have much higher aggregate requirements than less competitive ones.

Which courses have the lowest aggregate cut-off at FUTA?

Courses in the School of Agriculture and some areas of the School of Science (such as Biology, Chemistry, and Fisheries) have historically had lower aggregate cut-offs compared to Engineering and Computer Science. Always check the latest departmental cut-off list for confirmation.

Can I still gain admission if my aggregate is below my course’s cut-off?

It’s unlikely but not impossible — if slots remain unfilled, some candidates are considered for less competitive courses through FUTA’s supplementary admission list.

Is this calculator official?

No. This is an independent tool built to help you estimate your aggregate using FUTA’s published formula. Always confirm your final result and admission status through FUTA’s official portal.
