JAMB Denies Reports of Candidate Getting UTME Score Without Writing Exam
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims circulating online about a female candidate receiving a UTME score despite not taking the exam.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson, dismissed the report as “fake and malicious,” accusing perpetrators of attempting to undermine the Board’s integrity. He urged the public to disregard such “irresponsible publications” according to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, May 7th [Vanguard].
Report Debunked: Mischief Makers Edting Candidate Information
Dr. Benjamin explained that the reported incident is a fabrication. JAMB’s exam system is designed with security in mind and doesn’t function by arbitrarily assigning scores.
“It’s incredibly unfortunate that anyone could believe such a story, especially considering JAMB’s well-established reputation,” he remarked.
Dr. Benjamin elaborated on how these false reports might be created. JAMB has discovered that some manipulate the system by copying results sent to other candidates. They then modify the details to appear as their own and spread misinformation.
JAMB has challenged anyone with evidence of this supposed practice to come forward with specific details, including the phone number used to receive the fabricated results [The Nation].
JAMB Releases Additional UTME Results
In a separate announcement, JAMB confirmed the release of an additional 531 UTME scores on May 7th. This comes after a screening process involving over 64,000 results initially flagged for potential misconduct.
The latest release brings the total number of published UTME results to 1,842,897.
