This has to do with tense sequence. Whatever tense begins a sentence must end it. If a present tense begins a sentence, it must end with a present tense and vice versa. The sentence “The small child does whatever his father was done”. Here “was done” has been used wrongly because the first sentence has a present tense and not a past perfect tense. Therefore, “does” is appropriate.
